Ultra-Thin DC fan coils are the most effective way to utilize a heat pump’s energy savings. The whisper quiet DC fan coil come in 5 different sizes to retrofit any room. And unlike traditional radiators that just work on convection heat, the Fan Coil heater can cover 3 times the space of a traditional radiator.
Heat and Cool – The fan coils are a versatile solution to both heating and cooling. With a simple flip of the switch the Arctic Heat Pump will change to summer more and provide cold water circulation through the fan coil.
Quiet & Efficient– The brushless DC fan motors are the most quiet fans on the market and DC fans are exceptionally energy efficient drawing as little as 12 Watts to operate. Save over 30% versus other radiant heaters.
Comfort- because each room is controlled individually you can ensure that rooms not in use have a lower temperature than occupied rooms. Each room has its own its own climate control. This reduces un-needed heating costs while increasing comfort.

SENSIBLE WATER-TO-AIR HEATING SOLUTION
The Ultra-Thin Fan Coil is connected to inlet hot water pipes. The unit’s aluminum fin heat exchanger transfers the heat from the hot water to the air. A fan blower inside the fan coil distributes the heat air twice as far in the same time as compared to standard radiators. [yt_spacer height="20" ] [/yt_panel]PRECISION TEMPERATURE CONTROL
Precise temperature controls ensure even temperature distribution so each corner of the room is just right. Set a different temperature for each room for comfortable spaces.
Control the fan coil using the panel on the unit or by a convenient remote.

Arctic Heat Pump – North Americas only UL listed cold weather spa and pool heat pumps.
Heat pump technology has been widely adopted in the pool industry due to its significant cost savings. In fact most pool heat pumps can save owners 70% or more in heating costs. However these heat pumps have two major problems.
- They only work during the pool swimming season and quickly lose their efficiency as the outdoor temperature drops
- Their achievable output is the upper 80 degrees, much too cold for hot tub temperature.
Until now most spa owners were stuck with standard electric heaters however electricity is becoming more and more expensive and will continue the upper trend. The Arctic Heat Pump comes in three size; 50,000 BTU, 65,000 BTU and 85,000 BTU. The smaller SPA50 is targeted an hot tub and spa owners and produces between 14 Kw (high temperature rating) and 4.5 Kw (low temperature rating) of heat energy and can safely do so in temperatures as low 20 F (-7 C) while still providing homeowners operating cost savings over regular spa heaters. The larger Pool65 and Pool85 are targeted toward pool owners that want to extend their pool season. The pool heat pumps also can work in temperatures as low as 20 F (-7 F). For those in climates exceeding this we offer the Hybrid Heat pump system that includes a backup 4 Kw Balboa Spa Pack that will automatically provide extra heating power when needed.
Chiller and Heater in one unit
While hot tub users most often reference the heating requirements, the Arctic Heat Pump is also a chiller if need. That right.....It can heat and cool based on a simple controller selection. Ideal for hot climates that need a retreat from the hot summer heat! A cold water plunge is a must for Sauna owners. Now can quickly change your hot tub to a cold plunge tub! Cold water therapy has many health benefits and is growing in popularity in North America as we discover what the Nordic Culture has practice for centuries. Find out more about the health benefits of cold water therapy.
Excessively hot pools cause problems with the chemical imbalance and can quickly become full of algae if not properly monitored. Chlorine gases and evaporates as the water temperature rises. In areas such as California, Texas, Arizona and Florida, the hot summer temperatures can be difficult for pool owners. The Arctic Heat Pump for pools allows owners to reduce the temperatures back down to proper levels. By Chilling your pool you can get reprieve from hot summer heat waves.

How It Works – Arctic Heat Pump
The Arctic Heat Pump is a revolution in heat pump technology that remains unsurpassed in terms of cost and performance. Our Engineers designed this heat pump with a mission to make it the most efficient cold climate heat pump on the market at a price point of ½ of a traditional geothermal heat pump. This was done without any sacrifices to quality. Industry leading parts were mandated in the design of this unit. This includes German Wilo Pumps, Mitsubishi EVI DC inverter compressor, European Sanhua Valves, and Chico digital control system. All this is harnessed directly into complete weather proof housing.

Integrated Heating Solution
Unlike any other cold climate heat pump system on the market, our Arctic Heat Pump can control your entire home heating and cooling needs from domestic hot water, space heating/cooling using DC inverter fan coils, hydronic heating loops, and can also integrate to any pool or hot tub to provide full heat with our titanium heat exchangers. The Out Door Unit (ODR) contains everything you need in one case (monobolic). This results in no need to hire a refrigeration mechanic. All you will require is an electrical connection with an outdoor rated disconnect (weather proof). The system requires 240 VAC connection with a 20 or 30 Amp dedicated breaker depending on the size of the Arctic Heat Pump.
Built in Back up
The backup heating circuit in the buffer tank can be automatically controlled from the heat pump itself, making integration with an internal heater simple and effective. The backup heater will be given the signal from the cold weather heat pump only when the heat pump cannot keep up. This ensures you are never wasting energy with two heat sources competing. A standard electric hot water tank can be used or you can purchase water tanks designed specifically for our cold weather heat pumps than include added features such as extra insulation and internal ports for the temperature probe for more accurate temp readings.
[/yt_columns_item] [/yt_columns]
Expandability
Rather than split our production into 5 or 6 sizes, our technology allows us to combine heat pumps together to form larger heating systems as required. With the use of our MX controller you can add up to 5 Heat pumps. Our pumping technology also works the same. If your system is too large for the pump capacity, you can simply add a second pump in series to double your flow pressure.
User Friendly Controller
Unlike other cold weather heat pumps that require direct communication to each zone, Arctic Heat Pumps use simple differential controller logic with a tank thermometer probe included. Our tanks have a special cooper probe port insert both at top and bottom so we can accurately measure the tank. The heat pump will automatically be optimized to reach the design temperature set for the tank. As the weather changes, the heat pump will change as well using only exactly what it needs to keep the buffer tank at the set temperature.
So how does it work?
A brief example will show you how our heat pump for cold climates works. Our factory controller system can manage two zones, and unlimited zones with addition of the MX controller.
- Space Heat
- Space Heating and Cooling
- Cooling
If we have set up Heating and Cooling, then the heat pump will control both the circulation pump and a 3 way zone valve. Using the tank temperature sensors and an air temperature sensor built into the controller, the pump will turn on and default to the priority zone (either buffer tank for heating or the air temperature sensor for cooling) until it reaches the set temperature. As an example if cooling is priority then the system will cool the room to the set point temperature then the 3-way valve will divert to the buffer heating zone tank and the heat pump will switch to heating to fill its energy needs of the buffer tank which provides heat to zones like domestic hot water, space heating and pool/hot tubs. If the cooling zone requires cooling again the 3 way valve will switch to the cooling zones and the heat pump will reverse its self and provide cooling.
Basic Diagram for Heating and Cooling
Basic Design using Buffer Tank (recommended with back up heating element). Note the Arctic Heat Pump will signal when the element is needed to avoid competing heat sources. The Arctic Heat Pump controls the primary pump and the Heat/Cooling selection as well it will control the 3 way valve. All the other zones such as the heating loops and multiple cooling zones require individual zone controllers or can be centrally controlled by the RESol MX controller.
[yt_spacer height="20" ]
Basic Hydronic Heating is easily done through the use of the buffer tank. The heating zone is controlled separately by a zone thermostat that turns the pump on/off. You set the design tank temperature or let the Arctic Heat Pump optimize the temperature based on a pre-configured heating curve that will maximize the performance and adjust the tank temperature based on the outdoor temperature. Note most hydronic floor loops use lower temperatures such as 120 or less. In this case it is a good practice to add a mixing valve to ensure the water going into the floor is not hotter than the design temperature. Alternately you can set the tank temperature so that it will not exceed the design temperature.

Fan Coil Heating/Cooling is easily done through the use of the buffer tank. The heating/cooling zone is controlled separately by individual room thermostats found on the fan coils. A centralized controller connects to the zone pump. When any of the room zones call for heat or cooling they will close their contact and activate the pump. Each fan coil has an internal 3-way valve so that only the fan coils that have a heat or cool demand will allow the flow.
Changing the heat pump for heat to cool will determine whether the buffer tank stores hot water or cold water.

Energy Saving up to 30%
With the use of EVI DC inverter compressors, brushless DC fan motors and PFC control method, the heat pump is able to more accurately regulate its power output. There is no starting capacitor required, and the unit can soft start and stop and adjust its speeds to accommodate conditions. This result in 30% less operating cost compared to other air source heat pumps.

Intelligent Defrosting
Traditional Defrosting Method
Cold climate heat pumps with traditional defrosting methods use a start time and a start temperature. Once the ambient temperature reaches or is lower than -7 C, the unit will start defrosting. This results in wasted energy, as it will defrost regardless of whether the system needs it or not.
Intelligent Defrosting Method
Our Arctic Heat Pumps use intelligent defrosting which incorporates pressure sliding technology that determines the exact defrosting time and start pressure required according to the real ambient temperature. This saves energy, and makes the heat pump work more efficiently.

No frosting in the bottom
With the use of our special liquid distribution technology, in heating mode the temperature of the refrigerant in the air exchanger’s bottom copper tube will never decrease. This ensures no frosting on this lower portion, and results in smooth drainage.

Most heat pumps use a single or dual speed compressor. This means it is ether off or on. Our DC Inverter Heat Pump uses the industry’s best compressor, a variable speed DC Mitsubishi EVI compressor. This DC motor runs at the exact speed it needs for the optimal efficiency. In this way the DC heat pump averages 30% more efficiency versus a standard unit. This is very important as the compressor consumes the bulk of the energy requirement for a heat pump. By reducing the energy of the compressor the COP (co-efficiency of performance) is greatly increased. The Brushless DC fan motor and PFC control the running capacity and require no start up capacitor. By not requiring constant starting and stopping involved with conventional motors, our motor both reduces required input energy and reduces “wear & tear” on the compressor.
Better Temperature control - Most compressors turn on and run until they exceed the set point, then they will turn off until they drop below a set point. This leads to hot and cold fluctuation in room temperature and longer run times. With a DC Inverter Heat Pump variable speed compressor, we are able to reach the desired room temperature much quicker as our compressor can kick into high speed right at the beginning. Once the desired temperature is reached, our compressor will then throttle back and maintain the desired temperature, only supplying the exact amount of energy as needed. This greatly improves comfort while reducing operating costs.

EVI stands for “Enhanced Vapor Injection” and is a technology used on our cold climate heat pumps to achieve higher performance at lower temperatures. An EVI heat pump uses a 3rd smaller internal plate heat exchanger called an “Economizer” within the refrigeration cycle. By utilizing a bypass valve some of the hot refrigerant vapor on the condenser is bypassed to a HX which combines with the colder gas on the Evaporator expansion side. The heat energy is transferred raising the gas temperature even further which is then injected at mid-range pressure into the head of the scroll compressor through a separate vapor injection port. Using EVI heat pump technology, we are able to overcome the limitation of maximum flow temperature that other cold climate heat exchangers encounter. EVI Heat Pump technology allows more heat to be delivered resulting in a better COP at much lower temperatures. The EVI technology increase performance efficiency by 27-30%.
